"Looking to the Past, Living in the Present, Preparing for the  Future"

On March 30,1934, the Overton Chamber of Commerce was granted a Charter and in February 1990 joined forces with New London to become known as the Overton New London Chamber of Commerce.  The annual banquet was held on March 26,2009, to recognize the Chamber's 75th anniversary.

(Excerpt from April 16th issue of Overton Press 1934)

“Forward with East Texas” was the spirit of the Overton Chamber of Commerce banquet, held in the Overton high school gymnasium Monday night, April 9, 2010 at 8:00 PM.

Over 400 prominent men and women gathered to hear Hubert M. Harrison, general manager of East Texas Chamber of Commerce, deliver a splendid talk, tracing the history of forerunners of Chamber of Commerce work, from its earliest beginning 400 years ago on the sunny shores of Spain to the modern organization 25 years ago on New York State.
